Objectives

By the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to:

Appreciate the need to dress properly
Recognize aspect of appropriate dressing and grooming and how this are related to communication

Dressing and appearance determines the first impression you make on people you are meeting for the first time.

Appearance determines the standard an individual maintains.

If you dress neatly and are well groomed, it impacts positively on the people you meet.

A shabby/untidy appearance can put people off and some may judge you harshly.

Appearance and grooming tips (outer grooming)

Maintain good hygiene. Shower everyday and freshen up as often as necessary.
Wear clean and appropriate clothing all the time. Undergarments should not be visible.
Keep your shoes clean and polish all leather shoes.
Keep your hair clean and neatly combed.
Use perfumes, cologne and after-shower sparingly.
Keep your nails clean and short.
Always brush your teeth.
Tuck in your shirt.
Be moderate with the jewelery you wear.
Use only mild makeup for ladies
